What you will do
We are looking for an experienced specialist who will take full responsibility for the company’s accounting operations in Cyprus. The key short-term objective is to organize the existing accounting base, restore records for previous periods, and establish a structured and reliable accounting process for the future.
📍 Responsibilities
- Accounting recovery: Conduct an audit and restore accounting records for previous periods based on primary documentation (bank statements, invoices, bills).
- Full-cycle accounting: Manage all accounting areas in compliance with Cypriot legislation and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Management of accounting areas:
- Accounts Receivable (AR): revenue recognition, monitoring incoming payments, reconciliation of receivables.
- Accounts Payable (AP): expense accounting and settlements with creditors.
- Payroll: calculation of salaries, taxes, and social contributions (Social Insurance).
- Taxes: calculation and preparation of data for tax filings (VAT, Corporate Tax, and other mandatory taxes).
- Accounting system management: Enter and process data in QuickBooks Online, optimize the system according to business needs.
- Reporting: Prepare financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet) for management and external auditors.
- Tax administration: Ensure compliance of all operations with EU VAT requirements and local tax legislation.
📍 Ideal Candidate Profile:
- At least 2 years of experience as an Accountant / Finance Manager in Cyprus.
- Strong knowledge of Cypriot tax legislation, including EU VAT, payroll regulations, and Social Insurance contributions.
- Practical experience in restoring accounting records and working with legacy accounting data.
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online or similar accounting systems.
- High attention to detail, strong work ethic, and the ability to work with large volumes of primary documentation.
- English level Upper-Intermediate or higher (for working with documentation and legislation).
- Valid work permit in Cyprus (for non-EU residents) or EU/Cyprus citizenship.
- Nice to Have:
- Experience working in international companies or companies in IT / Fintech.
- Experience going through audit processes.
